Men's Club - December 2017

by Jack Williams, President

By the time you get this edition of the Lake Waukomis News, Christmas 2017 will be a warm and pleasant memory, New Year’s Eve will be behind us and 2018 will be underway. This is the time to take stock of our accomplishments from the year past and to make our New Year’s Resolutions.

Looking back, 2017 was a very good year for the Lake Waukomis Men’s Club. Some of the highlights were the Spring Boat Wash and Service, 4th of July Celebration, Hot Dam Party, Lake & Community Cleanups, Fall Boat Winterization, the Pumpkin Roll which had a turnout of over 100 people this year, the Veterans Day Celebration, Horse-drawn Sleigh Rides, hanging of Christmas decorations, as well as many upgrade projects competed around the Lake during the year. Something new this year was the donation of a live tree for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree decorating at the Community Building and replanting it on HOA property. We hope to have this become an annual contribution to the beautification of the Lake.

The 2017 officers responsible for bringing the Men’s Club activities to fruition were:

President: Dale Couch
Vice President: Art Kellogg
Treasurer: Bob Shinogle
Membership Co-chairs: Bill Massock and Gary Fiddler
Historian: Barry Sanderson
Secretary: Clarence Matthews

New officers for 2018 will be:

President: Jack Williams
Vice President: Art Kellogg
Treasurer: Larry Van Cleave
Membership: Bob Shinogle
Historian: Barry Sanderson
Secretary: Clarence Matthews
Meal Coordinator: Gary Fiddler

A big thank you goes out to retiring officers President Dale Crouch and Membership Co-chair Bill Massock for their hard work and dedication to making the Lake “THE” place to live. A hearty congratulations, also, to Dale Crouch, for being voted the Men’s Club 2017 Man of the Year! This honor goes to a very deserving individual!

Remember, the more the merrier so if you aren’t currently a member of the Men’s Club, please come join us for our next meeting January 8th, 7 pm at the Community Building and see how much fun it can be. Our first activity of the new year will be taking down the Christmas lights and decorations on January 11th.

Happy New Year to each and every Lake resident from your Men’s Club!
